Biography
johanna Blackstone has been working as a professional singer, musician, actress, make-up artist and wig designer for Opera and Theater Productions for over 10 years. She has a Bachelor of Arts in both Music and Theater from Binghamton University. From 2001-2005 she worked at Tri-Cities Opera as a make-up artist, seamtress, and chorister. She performed at the Cidermill Playhouse during 2003-2005 in several productions. After graduating from University in 2005 she worked as a make-up artist under the direction of Steven Horak from the Metropolitan Opera for New Jersey Opera Theater and Martina Arroyo Foundation Prelude to Performance. For the 2006-2007 opera season she was the Resident Wig and Make-up Artist at Connecticut Opera as well as working on productions for Chelsea Opera, New Rochelle Opera, Berkshire Opera and Princeton Opera Festival. She also sang as a chorister at Chelsea Opera. From September 2007-October 2008 she worked at the Venetian Macau Resort & Hotel in Macau China S.A.R. as an opera singer and wig designer for Streetmosphere. Since 2009 she has been living in Berlin Germany and currently performs with Incanto, Immoral Babylon Productions, The Baroque Experience, and The Dean Martin Show as well as performing individual acts for events. She has her own solo music project The Clockwork Faerie, is part of the experimental noise project Kunst als Strafe, and works as a freelance make-up artist for photo shoots and music videos and is a wig designer in the Baroque, 1920-1940s and Fantasy styles.
She has been described as a “patchwork of talents” and “the swiss army knife of musical instruments.”
